William Vanecek, aviation director for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, is responsible for the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) and the Niagara Falls International Airport (IAG). BUF is the 57th busiest airport in the nation, providing service to over 5 million passengers in 2012. IAG is a joint use non-hub commercial service airport that served approximately 200,000 passengers in 2012. He has held his current position since 1998.
Before joining the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority as aviation director, Mr. Vanecek served as vice president of finance for Simmons Airlines, formerly American Eagle’s largest regional air carrier and previously worked for Price Waterhouse as an audit manager.
Mr. Vanecek currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation and is a past president of the New York Aviation Management Association.
Mr. Vanecek holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from State University of New York at Buffalo and a MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington.
